SURVEY Part 1 – Conducting a survey

What do you need to know?

  • Are people for or against fox hunting?
  • How aware are people about the arguments in favour of fox hunting?
  • Do people who visit the countryside regularly feel differently about Fox Hunting to those that don’t?

Think carefully about what personal information you need - don't ask unnecessary questions.

You will need to analyse the results of the survey using a spreadsheet.

SURVEY  Part 2 – Designing a questionnaire and spreadsheet

Proofread your questionnaire and correct any errors.

Make sure that it works by using it to gather some test data.

Design a spreadsheet to analyse the data. Think carefully about what you need to find out. For example:

  • Do people who visit the countryside regularly think differently to those who don’t?
  • Is their choice affected by their age?
  • Is their choice affected by gender?
  • Are people influenced by the media?
You should think about what information you need from the survey before designing your questionnaire. You must find out:

You are going to conduct a survey on behalf of the Country Community Alliance (They are FOR Fox Hunting).  What are our attitudes towards Fox Hunting?  You will need to survey at least 40 people.
