DATABASE – Create it

For this task you will need these resources (download.zip)

You must create a membership database for use by the Campaign Against Hunting (CAH)

The data you need is stored as a text file. You must create a database to store the data in an organised way so that it can be searched easily.

You can find out what the data items are by looking at the data items list (download.rtf). For example the first Item is a unique four digit code that identifies each member.  Use the first two or three rows of the data to help you understand the list and work out what fields you need.

Design and build a suitable database structure to store the data. Make sure that each field has a suitable data type, format and length. You should include simple validation rules to ensure that only valid data is imported.

Once you are satisfied with your database structure, import the data set. If records are rejected, check that your validation rules work as intended.

The "member codes" file contains a complete list of membership codes.  Use this list to identify which records are missing.  Why do you think they are invalid?

DATABASE – Search it

Design four sensible searches that show the capabilities of your database and include searches of more than one field.
